Luke Paquin (he/him)

President, Head Coach

Luke has been swimming competitively since he was 12 years old. Luke swam for Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids, MN and competed at the collegiate level at Gustavus Adolphus College where he specialized in IM and backstroke. Luke coached as a USMS and USA Swimming club coach for the YWCA Minneapolis Otters from 2014-2023, and served as the assistant women's swim coach for Augsburg University from 2017-2019, 2021-2023.

Josh Tomashek (he/him)

Josh has been swimming since his parents signed him up for YMCA swim lessons when he was six. Since then, Josh has served as the team captain of his high school team and a team member of the Macalester college swim team. After swimming with the Smelts in Chicago and DC Aquatics in Washington D.C., Josh decided to re-start the LGBTQ+ swim team here in the Twin Cities.

Carly Krump (she/her)

Carly has been swimming competitively since she was 12 years old. Carly swam for Worland High School and Worland Swim Club in Worland, WY and Laramie Swim Club in Laramie, WY where she specialized in sprint freestyle, IM, and backstroke. Carly first started competing in Masters meets in 2019 and joined MN Ice later that year. With many years of teaching swim lessons, Carly hopes her knowledge will transfer to coaching where she can help everyone reach their goals. way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Sam Kraft (she/her)

Sam has been swimming competitively since 2003 (age 7). Sam swam for Mason City, Iowa High School and competed at the collegiate level at Luther College, where she loved to swim distance events. Sam has been coaching swimming since 2018, coaching at the USA Swimming level for Minnetonka Swim Club in 2018-2020, Southwest High School from 2022-Current, and now, at the USMS level. She serves as Vice Chair on the Minnesota Masters Board and the Breadbasket At Large Board Member for USMS. For her day job, she is a Staff Accountant at a public broadcasting / podcast agency. During her free time, she likes to lake swim, read, paddleboard, crochet, & cuddle with her cat, Leo.

Ross Freiderich (he/him)

Ross has been coaching in some capacity since graduating from the University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point in 2012, where he swam IM/Fly. Ross lives in South Minneapolis with Kathleen (spouse), Carmen (daughter), Slim Jim (cat) and Weenie (dog). He enjoys staying active in his free time and completed an English Channel Relay in 2021. For his day job, Ross is a Proposal Writer for U.S. Bank and a part-time swim coach for the Minneapolis Community Education Masters morning program.

Lily Lengvenis (they/them) Vice President

Gabe Hartog (he/him) Social Chair

As Social Chair of MN Ice Swim Club, Gabe plans bonding events, represents the team at community functions, and collaborates on fundraising. With a background in corporate and non-profit event planning, he has been supporting the team as Social Chair since 2022. Gabe swam with the Black Dog Swim Team from 2002–2011 and with Burnsville High School Team from 2007–2011. After a break, he rediscovered his love for swimming and joined MN Ice in 2021. His favorite events are the 100 Fly and the 500 free. Gabe works as a data analyst in the corporate social responsibility sector.  

Caroline Schwenz (she/her) Secretary

Kat Vandenbos (she/her) Sponsorship Chair

Kat joined MN Ice in 2022 and became Sponsorship Chair in 2025. As Sponsorship Chair of MN Ice, Kat leads fundraising activities and promotion for the team. Kat swam as a kid and rediscovered swimming when she had access to her university pool during the pandemic. During the day, Kat works in IT in the medtech industry.
